向上心

英語で向上心と何というか思うと、インターネットのExciteの和英辞書でみてみると、
"a desire to improve oneself;ambition"と出てきました。
なるほどなあ、と思いましたが、
TIME誌の別冊のスポーツ特集の記事のなかで、
こんなに、さらりと言えるんだ、と感心した表現を見つけました。

それは、"constant search for improvement" という表現なんです。

"a desire" のようなちょっと暑苦しい（！？）言葉がなくて、クールに決まる、
それでいて、いつも問題意識を持ち続けている、ということがわかります。
